NANOWRIOMO

I don't think I told many of my blog friends, but this month I participted in the annual National Novel Writting Month. I completed a novel of 50,102 words in less than a month. Part of my major is English and I was ecited to take on this challenge, but honestly I did not know what I was getting in to! It was hard work and there were times I wished I had not started such a crazy adventure, but now that I am done I am so glad I did it. I wrote a novel. It may not be a best seller, but it was about something I love. A girl who is addicted to shopping, fashion blogs and who is simply trying to find love. I hope to edit it and work on getting it published just for fun. I even found a website where you can publish your own work. I am really encouraged by the fact I was able to finish. I just wanted to encourage everyone else to consider trying it next year. It's not easy, but it is definately an accomplishment you will be proud of once your done. Now that I am done I will be able to focus more on my blog....sorry I have been gone so much lately!! I start work Monday, so you will be seeing businessy outfits very soon :) ~Kendra~

Filling out the paperwork

Friday I had to go to my new job and fill out all the new hire paperwork. I wanted to dress like I was going to work, because I had to meet with my boss, meet my coworkers and even see the President of the school. I had just gotten this jacket on Tuesday when I found out I got the job, so I was dying to wear it.

Job Update

So, I found out yesterday that I got the job I interviewed for last week. I am so incredibly excited!!!! This is just the kind of job I was looking for. I get to work with people in an office enviroment wearing businessy clothes and learning a whole lot of new things. I am going to be a Career Counselor for student about to graduate college with technical degrees. Basically I will help them refine their interview skills, prepare their resumes, find externships and places for them to apply. It combines my love of recruiting with my passion for helping people. I can not wait to get started!!! :) Once I do I will be back to regular outfit posting. Until then I am taking advantage of jeans and hoodies since it is finally getting cold her in the Dallas area. ~Kendra~

Here's to hoping

Well, finding the perfect post college job is proving to be very difficult....hopefully it will work out soon enough. With about a month till graduation I am shocked that I am not totally freaking out yet. Anyways, today I have to hold it together, because I have two job interviews. I decided to go more conservative than ussual, maybe that's the trick to scoring the killer job....we will see :)

Back to Work

I missed work on Monday, because I still didn't feel good, but I headed back to work today. Still didn't feel like getting all dressed up, so I kept it pretty simple and casual. I also decided to pull out some items I got at 1/2 price day at Goodwill last week...this Liz Claiborne snake skin bag...it's hug and soooo pretty, plus this cute orange tank with embelishments around the neck.

XOXO Gossip Girl

I did not have any big plans for Halloween, but they did ask us to dress up at work, so I was happy I got to find a costume. I thought about what I wanted to be and knew I wanted to go with something that would cost next to nothing, so I decided to be Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl and the only thing I had to buy was a plaid, pleated school girl skirt, which I scored at half price day at Goodwill :) This was the inspiration for my costume:

Here's What I Wore:
Red Headband-$2 at Family Dollar
Red Cardi-$2 at Goodwill
Blazer-gifted from BF (From Charolette Rouse)
White Belt-$1 thrifted
Necklace-25cents at Garage sale
Plaid skirt-$2 at Goodwill
Black tights-free from C-store
Black flats-$6 at Cato
Purse-$9 at Walmart
.
My outfit came pretty close to the actual outfit. I decided to not wear a button down underneath, because it was simply too thick and hot that way. I also decided to go with black tights, because I wasn't feeling that well and I didn't wanna go to the store and get red tights. I love the purse I wore with this...I acctually got it a long time ago at Walmart and I rarely wear it, because it's one that has to really go with your outfit, since it's so loud. I really liked this outfit and wish I could've worn it longer. I went to work and lasted about an hour before I felt so sick I had to leave....I think I have the flu. I am feeling a little better today though. Hopefully I will be back to feeling great soon :) ~Kendra~
