Gypsy Girl

For Halloween, I went to a party Saturday night at a friends house.  It was really fun...music, drinks and good talks.  Love silly nights like that.  Here are a few pics from the night....
.
Here's What I Wore:
Blue top- $2 at Denton Thrift
(Used extra fabric from the top to make the wrap around my skirt.  Also used a 25cent scarf from a garage sale to add some purple bling around the wrap.
Funky Skirt- $9.99 at Burlington Coat Factory (Cutre a few layers to make it shoter and used part of one layer as a headband.)
Earrings- $6 at Charming Charlies
Bracelets- some are 6 for $5 at MIZ Accessories and one is $7 from Target
Boots-Gifted from BF
Outfit Total: About $27.25
.

My bestie linds made an adorable 20's flapper girl. :-)

Me and the girls.  (left to right: Swiss Miss, Zena, Nerd, Flapper Girl & Gypsy)
.
On another note...I decided I needed a change.....$2.50 Medium Chestnut Brown hairdye and a new haircut did just the trick. :-)

I just love these flowered jeans.  Today I was worn out from a long week of work and overtime, so I kept it simple with a sweater, scarf and boots.  It was pretty comfy, but not my fav combo ever.  Maybe because I was running late and just threw my hair in a lazy braid.
.
Here's What I Wore:
Navy Sweater- $2 at Thrift City
Blue Scarf-gifted from Mom
Floral Skinnies- $17.98 at Cato
Brown Boots- $7 at Goodwill
Earrings & Bracelets- 6 for $5 at MIZ Accessories
Outfit Total- About $29
 .
.

Todays post is another inspired look....this one comes from Style Cuye By Suzie Q  Her blog is packed with adorable, bright and daring outfit combos.  This one caught my attentions, because #1 I have jeans in that exact color, #2 I am obsessed with anything mustard yellow at the moment and #3 it;s jeans week at work.
.
Random note....Do yall remember when they came out with Green Mustard?  I think I was in highschool and I just had to get my dad to buy it, but despite what they said, it totally didn't taste like red mustard.  Weirdest thing ever!! lol

I felt like keeping it simple with a little pop of color today.  Funny story....I got my current job over a year ago and the first girl I met there loved to shop too.  One our first day during lunch I took her to eat a quick sandwhich and then we went shopping.  I scored this lovely bag at Marshalls.  Don't you love when you have memories tied to your treasured items?  I do....that's why I have such a hard time purging my closet. lol

Camel & Leopard Work Style

At my job, if you donated $5 for Breast Cancer you could wear jeans all this week...count me in. Donating to a good cause and being able to wear jeans...total jackpot!! BTW I seem to be on a roll lately....from a vending machine giving me all my money back and flashing Congrats on the little screen to a lady at a resturant giving me free desert today...good times. I love a good freebie!!! :-)
.
On another note, I saw this outfit in the October issue of Style Watch and knew I had to recreate.....

.
So here it is my way....
Here's What I Wore:
Camel blazer- $7 at Dots (Altered by me)
B/W Top- $4 at JCPenny
Skinny Jeans- $12 at Walmart
Leopard Scarf- $5 at Factory Outlet
Suede Booties- $12 at Cato
Earrings- $1.50 at Forever 21
Outfit Total- About $41.50
*Jackon's photo bombing :-)
.
Another random note...I've been using Aussie Deep Conditoner 1 time per week on my hair for the last couple weeks and I really think it's made my hair softer, my curls bouncier and the style just last longer.  If you haven't tried it, you totally should.  And it's inexpensive too...around $3.

Jackson could spend all day on the patio....I can't wait till I can give him his own backyard.  He will love it!!!  :-)

Dotty Inspiration

I have been mega inspired by magazines and other bloggers lately as mentioned a few posts ago.  Possibly because I've been sick so much trying to get these dang allergies and asthma under control that instead of workout out, I've been browsing through blogs and mags to my hearts content.  So...when I saw Dash Dot Dotty's blog:  http://dashdotdotty.blogspot.com and her amazing use of a simple gray blazer (pictures below)  I had to do my own take with an amazing gray Limited blazer I got at Thirft City:

.
And here's what I came up with....
Here's What I Wore:
Blazer- $3 at Thrift City
Mint Sweater- $2 at Garage Sale
Black Wide Leg Trousers- $2 at Thrift City

Earrings- $3.50 at NY&Co.
Heels- $19 at random mall store

.
Don't you just love the liner fabric of this gray blazer?  So fun!!  How do you style your gray blazer?  Lemme know in the comments. :-)
~Kendra~
So at work a lady walked up to me in the hall and said...."Wow, from far away I thought you we're wearing a super short dress to work and I was like, What???"  LOL  What do I say to that?  I just kind of stared and said "Oh, well I'm wearing pants" and then kept on my way. :-)  Oh awkward run-ins at work....good times!  Then I thought to myself (despite how white I look in these photos, I spray tan regularly) man, I need to go tan again if I look at light as my khakis. hahaha
.
Have you ever had someone randomly comment on your outfit in an unexpected way?
What'd they say?

I had been dying for an infinity scarf, but none of them seemed just right....until I spyed this beauty.  Originally it was priced at $69 at Talbots.  I got it at the Talbots Outlet on super clearance for a mere $3.  Seriously!!!  Also, got the belt there too in the exact same shade of minty perfection.   Also, love this outfit, bc it includes these pants I almost chucked in the Goodwill pile, bc I'm not big on flared pants, but when I found they work tucked in to boots...I fell in love.  Isn't shopping your closet fun?!  I am oddly enjoying this self imposed shopping ban....never thought I'd be saying that, but I really am.  I just have so many clothes I have never even worn, so it's fun to try to make the new items mix with the old.
.
Here's What I Wore:
Infinity Scarf- $3 at Talbots Outlet (Org. $69)
Belt- $3 at Talbots Outlet
Denim Peasant Top- $2 at TV Fashion Outlet
Green Dress Pants- $2 at Thrift City
Nine WestBoots- $7 at Goodwill
Bracelet & Earrings- 6 for $5 at MIZ Accessories
Outfit Total- About $19
 .
Also, love how I wore this purse and thought it was amazing how well it matched my boots.  Then halfway through the day realized they're Ninewest brand too.  Got it at Denton Thrift a few years back.  Haven't worn it much, but now that I have these boots I'm guessing it will get alot more use.

Wednesday, October 17, 2012

I've been getting lots of inspiration lately from magazines and other blog.  I saw this outfit and knew I had to recreate it....and what's even better, I found a use for these green slacks that I was about to donate to Goodwill without even wearing them.  They're flared at the bottom and I don't really like that, but by tucking them in to boots they become much more me. :-)
.

Here's What I Wore:
Top- $12 at Marshalls
Pants- $1.99 at Thrift City
Boots- $7 at Goodwill
Scarf- gifted from mom
Braclets- 6 for $5 at MIZ Accessories & $3 at Charming Charlies
Outfit Total- About $25

Can you tell what I forgot this morning?  Yup, mascara and eye liner.  I seriously forget it at least once a week, which is exactly why I have an emergency makeup bag in my desk at work.  I have no idea why this is something I keep forgetting. lol  Apparently when I'm in a rush that last little finishing touch flys out of my mind.
Is there any important part of your routine you forget when your in a rush?
.
Here's What I Wore:
Black Jacket- $10 at TV Fashion Outlet

Saturday night while trying to fight off whatever sickness was trying to linger around, I went out dinner with one of my sorority besties.  After dinner we browsed around the mall and I bought nothing.....something I'm very proud of. :-)  I have not bought any new clothes, shoes or accessories in 15 days as of today.  I'm on a self inflicted shopping ban, because, let's just say, I have become quite the shopaholica lately. hahaha  But now I need to focus on saving for more important things...as well as focusing on buying key more adult/business woman type pieces.  My wardrobe is full of whats needed for pretty much every occasion, so after this month of no shopping I am going to put myself on a $50 per paycheck (every 2wks) shopping budget. Although I am really good at getting deals, if u get a million things at a good price, you still end up spending tons.
.
Do you have a shopping budget?  How does it work for you?
Here's What I Wore:
H&M Polka Dot Blazer- $3 at Thrift City
Red Ruffle Tank- $9 at Cato
Scarf- $5 at walmart
Jeans- $10 at Ross

The Birthday and The Voiceless Rocker

Sorry for being MIA lately. It all started Friday when I took 1/2 a day off from work, headed to my hometown and suprised my mom.  Then Saturday my dad and I threw her a suprise 50th bday party.  My dad was a great planner from invites, to the location, to the 2 dozen roses.  I was in charge of the decorations....See my handywork:
.
My dad, of course, had to put his humourous spin on the shin dig by make the cake have a cute message:  "35 and holding"
.
The turnout was great and everyone has an awesome time!!!
.
So while I was home the weather was insanely cold...low 40's at the highest plus windy.  Apparently my body was not used to it since Dallas doesn't get cold this soon.  I got back to the DFW on Monday and felt fine.  Then Tursday morning it hit me...the weather change and exhaustion for the long weekend.  Wednesday I was off work sick...thursday and today back at work, but still recovering.  Today I have no voice...hence the name of this post, which also brings me to my work outfit for the day....

Isn't it nice to do something your passionate about?  From baby onsies, to dresses, to Halloween costumes, to styling...I've been doing it all this past week.  Plus my 8-5 job...it's been busy to say the least. :-)
